History
“Not having a good sounding bass at a specific moment in life is not similar as having many basses and not been happy with any of them”.
That is exactly what happens to Julian Montilla, chef of “MB” upright electric basses but that wasn ́t a problem for him who was looking for that Deep Sweet Sound at one point in his life.
After trying many of the good upright basses in the market and still not completely happy with what he heard he decided to build his own bass…that ́s how he came to design and build the “MB1” model that later on became the “MB2” model.
Even so the “MB” basses are new to the music market there ́s a story behind it.
The first “MB” basses designs and basses were made in Colombia years ago where the learning process begun and after a period of trying an errors in the building,transporting,etc. the decision was made to build the basses in Germany, specificatedly in the city of Stuttgart were “MB” basses found a better environment to build the basses with better wood quality,tools,machines,etc.
Concept
Julian Montilla coming from the Latin music scene in his beloved Colombia and been sposed to many good bass players thru his career came to the conclusion that time changes and so do the music instruments.
Finally after many trying and errors he got what he was looking for in an electric upright bass; a bass easy to transport,comfortable to play and with a Deep Sweet Sound tone (or DSS)… that ́s how he came to design and build the “MB2”
